History
Tre Cime di Lavaredo is not a traditional climb but a toll road to a high refugio and viewing area, climbing 7.5 km from Misurina at 7.6% average. The final ramps into the refugio climb at 18%, and the iconic three limestone towers — the Tre Cime themselves — dominate the summit landscape.
The approach from Misurina starts at 1,752 m, so the climb gains less absolute altitude than many Alpine passes, but the final punchy ramps make it feel harder than the numbers suggest. The last section of road is narrow and busy with tour buses and motorcycles.
The Tre Cime is most famous not for cycling but as one of the most photographed mountain formations in the Alps. Cyclists ride it for the views and the short, sharp difficulty of the final section, making it a frequent fixture in local Dolomite cycling routes.
